Finca is the latest project from chef/owner David Pratt. With this restaurant, David wanted to shift gears—creating something more fun, current, and accessible. From the start, he emphasized two key inspirations: the Valle de Guadalupe wine region in Northern Mexico and a desire to cook entirely over fire. This led to the commissioning of a 12-foot wood-burning grill as the heart of the kitchen.

The space itself is designed to awe and welcome in equal measure. Set within a long, vaulted structure with 25-foot ceilings, the architecture creates a dramatic yet intimate environment. Along one wall, 22-foot-tall mirrors expand and reflect the space. Opposite that, we added a mezzanine to create intimacy, add seating, and frame views of the grassy park just outside. Both ends of the building were opened up with vaulted glass walls, allowing light to pour in and the landscape to remain ever-present.

Filtered light passes through divided warm-hued stained glass panels, casting colorful, shifting tones throughout the day. Every design element is intentional and story-driven: from the small bar that bridges the mezzanine to the ceiling, to the handmade ceramic chandelier by South Africa’s Mud Studio. Locally crafted plates, glassware, and finishes reflect the commitment to sustainability and craftsmanship

Two bold pieces of art punctuate the space: a dramatic sumi ink portrait of St. John the Baptist commands attention above the bar, while a sweeping abstract by Lea Feinstein draws the eye up the mezzanine wall—both anchoring the visual narrative.

Since its opening, Finca has remained consistently full—a testament to the power of thoughtful design, honest food, and a deeply human approach to hospitality.
